Apparatus for processing analog image signals comprising: a plurality of analog image signal channels, each channel including a variable gain amplifier and a high speed video op amp connected to the variable gain amplifier, the op amp having an output and a disable/enable feature, wherein the outputs of the op amps of the plurality of signal channels are connected to a common output; and controller for controlling the plurality of signal channels so that only one channel is operable and all other channels are inoperable by setting the gain of the variable gain amplifier of the operable channel to the proper gain and by enabling the op amp of the operable channel and by setting the gains of the inoperable channels to a minimum and by disabling the op amps of the inoperable channels.
