<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine dot miss easily and surely by providing a print control means for increasing the conduction time of each heating element by a specified time as compared with that for normal printing and printing a dot miss recognition pattern thereby printing the dot miss pattern clearly. SOLUTION: Upon delivery of a dot miss recognition pattern, pattern print control means 11, 12 control the conduction time of each heating element 7 in a thermal head 6 using conduction tables T3 -T9 corresponding to head ranks H1 -H7 . More specifically, a conduction time T3 is set for printing with a head rank 1 and the conduction time T3 is longer than the conduction time T1 of the head rank H1 . Since the quantity of electrical energy being fed to each heating element 7 in the thermal head 6 is increased as compared with that for normal printing, the dot miss recognition pattern can be printed clearer and the dot miss can be determined easily and surely.</p> |
