PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a polyester hollow fiber excellent in moisture absorbing and desorbing characteristics and drapability by filling silica gel into a hollow part of the polyester hollow fiber having many communicating parts from the fiber surface to the hollow parts. SOLUTION: This polyester hollow fiber is produced by scouring and drying a plain knitted fabric knitted from a multifilament yarn of polyester hollow fibers, composed of ethylene terephthalate copolymer and having 5-60% percentage of hollowness, then carrying out the alkali weight reduction treatment with sodium hydroxide, scattering communicating parts, communicating from the fiber surface to the hollow part and having 0.2-10μm width and 5-20μm length on the fiber surface, impregnating the resultant knitted fabric into a silica sol in a vacuum state, introducing the silica sol into the hollow part of the hollow fiber, then performing the gelling treatment, making the silica gel in an amount of 3-60% based on the weight of the polyester stick to the hollow part and imparting moisture absorbing and desorbing characteristics to the hollow fiber. |
