摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new hollow particles comprising a polypeptide having a specific amino acid sequence and expressing the antigenicity of hepatitis E virus(HEV) and useful for vaccines against the infection of HEV, for diagnosing hepatitis E, etc. SOLUTION: The new hollow particles of hepatitis E virus(HEV) comprises a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence of the formula or a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence having a >=80% homology to the amino acid sequence of the formula and having the antigenicity of the HEV, can be utilized as a safe vaccine against HEV infections, and is useful for diagnosing the hepatitis E as an immunological measurement reagent for detecting the HEV antibody. The hollow particles are obtained by separating HEV from the feces of a hepatitis E patient, intravenously injecting the HEV into a monkey, collecting the gall after the generation of the hepatitis, subculturing the collected HEV, extracting the RNA by a conventional method, synthesizing a cDNA from the RNA, subjecting the cDNA to a PCR amplification, cloning and subsequently expressing the cloned product in a host cell.
