PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a recorded dot positional deviation relative to a moving direction of a recording head by holding image data of a plurality of columns corresponding to a plurality of recording elements regarding recording, selecting and recording the image data corresponding to the column to be recorded from the held data. SOLUTION: Positional deviation correction data of a main scanning direction of a recording head calculated from a test pattern previously stored in an EEPROM is held in N-bit latches 115 to 116 prior to recording. Image data are input to an N-bit shift register 704 according to a clock CLK, and sequentially shift transferred to N-bit latches 114 to 111 according to a latch clock CLK4 to CLK1. One is selected from the image data output from N-bit latched circuits 111 to 114 at each nozzle unit according to an output from N-bit latched circuits 115, 116 by an image selector 11 for selecting the image data corresponding to the column to be recorded, and output to an AND circuit.
