PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focus detector capable of performing focus detection, focusing and focus lock at the time of focusing for a specified focus detection area within an image plane with easy operation. SOLUTION: When an AF button 12(switch SW1) is in an on-state, the focus detection, the focusing and the focus lock at the time of focusing for a spot area are performed(1st control). When an ocular detection part 10(switch SW0) and a release button 11 (switch SW1) are in the on-state on a condition that the 1st control is not executed, the focus detection and the focusing for a wide area are performed(2nd control). When the switch SW1 is in an off-state on a condition that the switches S0 and S1 are in the on-state and the 1st control is executed, the 2nd control is executed. |
