PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To spread water evenly to the entire surface of a water feed mat. SOLUTION: A water holding layer 1 which comprises a first web consisting of thermoplastic synthetic fibers of single yarn fineness of 2 to 7 denier and a water absorption and diffusion layer 2 comprising a second web consisting of thermoplastic synthetic fibers of single yarn fineness of 0.5 to 7 denier are laminated. The constituting fibers of the laminated water holding layer 1 and the water absorption and diffusion layer 2 are three-dimensionally intertwined with each other by needling. The water holding rate is >=100g/m<2> and the water absorptivity measured by a Byreck method is >=10mm/1min.
