The invention relates to a Gymnema inodorum roasted tea having glucose absorption inhibiting action. The Gymnema inodorum roasted tea is obtainable by roasting dried Gymnema inodorum leaves at 150-200 DEG C. The thus obtained Gymnema inodorum roasted tea retains its glucose absorption inhibiting substances, (3 beta ,4 alpha ,16 beta )-16,23,28-trihydroxyolean-12-ene-3-yl- beta -D-glucopyranuronic acid derivatives, and yet has moderate astringency, bitterness and a sweet and fragrant aroma. The Gymnema inodorum roasted tea of the invention is also rich in vitamins, amino acids and essential minerals necessary for the adjustment of biological functions.
