<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knee constraining device for vehicle in which the control of a motion route of a knee protective plate during expansion operations is possible and thereby a proper protection is surely executed even if the knee impact of an occupant is generated before the plate reaches a final location. SOLUTION: This device has a protective plate 10 moving in the direction of the knee of an occupant, a base plate 14 which has an opening to couple with a gas generator 16 and is capable of coupling with a vehicle structural member 12 and a flexible wall 18 which is located by being overlapped between the base plate 14 and the knee protective plate 10 in a halt state and couples with the base plate 14 and the protective plate 10, respectively, along a first and a second sealing rims. The first edge part 20 of the knee protective plate 10 is held by the base plate 14 so as to rotate and release. The second edge part 22 is secured to the base plate 14 by a breakable fastening. The edge part 22 is released by expansion pressure of the wall 81 extended before the rotation of the protective plate 10 and the release of the knee protective plate 10 from the base plate 14 in addition to the operation of the gas generator 16.</p> |
