PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light source device capable of providing uniform brightness and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: A surface light source device comprises a casing surrounded by side walls on which light reflecting surfaces are formed and a light source enclosed in the casing, and causes reflected light in the casing to radiate from a number of light-transmitting regions provided on the side walls. In this case, the farther it is from the position of the light source, the greater the proportion at which the area distribution AD1 of the light transmitting regions consists of a first stage 1 of a curve rising roughly in the shape of S, a second stage II of a curve rising in the shape of an arc, and a third stage III of a falling curve. |
