A temperature control method for a fixing device provided with a heating means 1, 3, for heating a recording medium, 5, a pressurising means, 2, forming a fixing nip portion as it is kept in contact under pressure with the heating means defined above, a temperature detecting means, 4, for detecting the temperature of the heating means defined above, and a temperature controlling means for controlling the temperature of the heating means defined above on the basis of the temperature detected by the temperature detecting means defined above, wherein the temperature controlling means defined above makes a selection of a control temperature for the heating means defined above on the basis of the quantity of heat which the above-defined heating means is deprived of by the above-defined pressurising means in the state in which the heating means and the pressurising means as defined above are being driven, wherein the temperature controlling means is characterised in that the temperature controlling means defined above performs a controlling operation in such a manner that the applied electric power will be larger in the latter portion of one sheet of the recording medium than in the former portion thereof. |
