PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a fast access time by reducing read/write time to/from a floppy disk(FD). SOLUTION: In the case that the user loads an FD and an FD read designation is detected, the format is checked. When the format is confirmed, format information is read from a format table. In the case of reading information in an area (n) (n=0, 1, 2) with a buffer having a capacity of c-bytes, data by L(=c/Bn) sectors are read by a command to a floppy disk control(FDC) (Bn is number of bytes of the area (n) by one sector). After commands are given by a number of ((quotient obtained by dividing Sn with L)+R) for sectors, read of data by one track is finished. In the case of R=1, the ((quotient of Sn/L)+1)-th command is given to a read object by Lend sectors, and the value Lend is obtained by the following equation; Lend = (Sn - quotient of (Sn/L)×L). The control is transferred to a succeeding track after the read of one track is finished.
