PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the surface acoustic wave device that is configured by using a piezoelectric substrate with an excellent temperature characteristic and a high electromechanical coupling coefficient at a low cost. SOLUTION: At least one interdigital electrode is placed on a crystal rotation Y board expressed by Euler's angles (0,θ,ϕ) so that an angleϕbetween a surface wave propagating direction and a crystal X axis is about 90 deg. in the surface acoustic wave device 1. In this case, comb-tooth electrodes 3, 4 of the interdigital electrode are made of at least tungsten and theθis selected to be 125 deg.<θ<130 deg. or equivalent.
