PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable direct measurement with satisfactory operational environment and efficiency by using copper ethylenediamine for solvent and adjusting the cellulose concentration of solution to be measured within a specified range to measure the concentration by a viscosimeter specifically constituted. SOLUTION: Industrial regenerated cellulose, natural cellulose or the like is dissoluted with copper ethylene diamine as solvent and regulated in a dissolving bottle 1 of a capillary type viscosimeter so that the cellulose concentration provides 0.36±0.003wt.%. Next, the viscosimeter is pressed into intimate contact with the upper part of the dissolving bottle 1, and a tap aspirameter, rubber ball or the like is used to set an upper end opening part 5 to the pressure reducing condition, so that the cellulose solution is sucked from the upper side marked like 10 of a measuring liquid reserving part 4 in the capillary part 3 to an upper position. A time taken for the passage of the upper surface of the solvent between the upper and lower marked lines is measured to measure the relative viscosity of the cellulose. Further it is desired that the cellulose having at least 95wt.% of cellulose containing rate is used to improve the accuracy of measured value.
