Fuel pressure regulator/fuel filter module

The fuel filter module includes a central passage in fluid communication with a third fuel port, a device for preventing fuel that has entered the enclosure via a first fuel port from passing to the central passageway of the cartridge other than through the filter media. A self-contained fuel pressure regulator includes a housing that is disposed on the one end wall of the enclosure and having a pressure-regulating port and an excess fuel return port. A pressure regulating mechanism is provided within the housing that is operable to cause excess fuel to be conveyed along an excess fuel return path extending through the housing from the pressure- regulating port to the excess fuel return port when fuel pressure at the pressure-regulating port exceeds a regulation pressure.
