摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new positive electrode active material in which a charge and discharge cycle characteristic is excellent in a voltage range of 4.5V to 3.0V or in the vicinity thereof at a discharge time. SOLUTION: This positive electrode active material is made of LiXMn(2- Y) MYO4 (where 0.05<=X<=2.3, 0.02<=Y<=0.8, M is at least one kind selected from a group composed of Ge, Sn, Pb). A lithium secondary battery using the positive electrode active material is excellent in a charge and discharge characteristic, above all, in the charge and discharge characteristic at a high temperature of 60 deg.C or thereabout so that the positive electrode active material is suitable for manufacturing a long-life lithium secondary battery.
