PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase degrees of freedom of a shape of a gas generator by controlling an appearance timing of an opening and tearing means in accordance with a form of collision and a build of an occupant and ignition timing in an inflation chamber when an air bag is developed so as to control a release speed of gas. SOLUTION: Internal pressure in an inflation chamber 4 is changed and an area of opening of a rupture plate 2 is changed when flammable gas and an ignition source 3 are provided in the inflation chamber 4 and the rupture plate 2 in the inflation chamber 4 is ruptured by an opening and tearing means 5 so as to control flow-out speed of gas. That is, internal pressure in the inflation chamber 4 is increased and the area of opening of the rupture plate 2 is decreased when the rupture plate 2 in the inflation chamber 4 is opened and ruptured by igniting the inflation chamber 4 and the opening and tearing means 5 almost simultaneously, thereby reducing flow-out speed of gas. Consequently, it is possible to increase degrees of freedom of a shape of a gas generator and simplify the inner structure thereof. |
