PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the portable information providing device which has a function for deciding a transportation means and can improve the function of the device. SOLUTION: An absolute position calculation part 22 finds a current position on the basis of the output of DGPS device 12, etc. Further, a predictive navigation calculation part 20 finds a moving speed and a moving direction on the basis of the outputs of a three-axial gyro 14 and a three-axial compass 16. A transportation means decision part 24 discriminates a transportation means which is currently used from data of a map and transportation means data base 18, and the current position, moving speed, and moving direction. Then an information provision control part 26 generates and provides information of contents corresponding to the transportation means for a user. Further, a communication control means 28 switches a communication means according to the transportation means. |
