A lever mechanism (3a, 3b) for the insertion and removal of a module (5) in a housing (1) includes two levers (3a, 3b) the proximal ends (3a1 and 3b1) of which are pivotally mounted to the module at spaced locations on the module (5). The distal ends (3a3, 3b3) of the levers are disposed in confronting relationship when the levers are longitudinally aligned. A leaf spring (4) is longitudinally slidably mounted to the levers (3a, 3b) including sliding attachment to the levers at their distal ends (3a3, 3b3). The leaf spring (4) is sufficiently stiff to maintain spatial alignment of the distal ends (3a3, 3b3) of the levers (3a, 3b) during angular movement. Arcuate sectors (3a4, 3b4) branching from the levers (3a, 3b) adjacent their distal ends (3a3, 3b3) overlap and provide handles for manually operating the levers (3a3, 3b3). Latches (3a6, 3b6) correspondingly positioned at the proximal ends (3a1, 3b1) of the levers (3a, 3b) cooperate with catches (3a7, 3b7) in the opening or slot in the housing (1) in which the module (5) is inserted to provide the final insertion or removal forces for insertion and removal of the module (5) with respect to the housing.

|
