PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the processing steps of a CPU and to shorten processing time by suppressing the read of the image data of a large capacity to one time and simultaneously performing a binarization processing based on run length expression, labeling and area measurement. SOLUTION: When measurement start is instructed from an I/O 10, image pickup signals from a CCD camera 2 are converted to digital signals in an A/D converter 3 and then, transferred to a frame memory 6 as image data. For a measurement object area set beforehand in the image data, the CPU 7 reads the image data corresponding to a raster scanning order, compares the image data of a picture element under consideration with a threshold value set beforehand and considers it as an object at the time of being large and as a background at the time of being small. In the case of the measurement object, the result of performing the binarization processing is expressed for respective lines by run length and the total area of the entire object is measured as well simultaneously. Then, by comparing the object ranges (start coordinates and end coordinates) of a previous line and the line under consideration respectively, labeling is performed. Thus, the processing steps of the CPU are reduced. |
