An image pickup lens system consists of first and second lens elements arranged in this order from the object side. The first lens element is a meniscus lens having a weak refractive power and concave toward the object side, and the second lens element has a positive refractive power. The following formula is satisfied. 0.19</=d1/f</=1.7wherein d1 represents the central thickness of the first lens element and f represents the focal length of the overall lens system.
