PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a carbonaceous material having a low-crystalline graphite structure at a low temperature by pyrolyzing an organic compound in such a way as to have Raman spectral patterns at specific sites, and thereby to obtain a carbonaceous material having a crystallographic structure with which a variety of substrates can be directly coated with it. SOLUTION: This carbonaceous material, obtained by pyrolyzing an organic compound, has Raman spectral patterns at 1600 and 1360cm<-1> . The particularly preferable organic compounds are aromatic hydrocarbon-based ones, e.g. benzene, for their reactivity. The pyrolysis is effected at a reaction temperature of >=350 deg.C but <800 deg.C in an atmosphere comprising at least one type of noble gas in the presence of a radical which pulls hydrogen from the organic compound. It is necessary to effect the pyrolysis at the optimum degree of vacuum in such a way to match crystallization rate of the crystals with stock supply concentration, in order to improve productivity of the objective carbonaceous material. The pyrolysis can be effected at 150Torr or below, when a plasma method is used as the activation means. |
