PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of efficiently separating and recovering an ion exchange resin from a reaction solution and reusing it in the reaction in reacting a carboxylic acid with an alcohol in a suspended dispersion of a strongly acidic cation exchange resin as a catalyst to produce a corresponding carboxylic acid ester. SOLUTION: This method comprises introducing a slurried reaction solution containing an ion exchange resin into a resin separating tank, taking out a clarified solution from the top of the resin separating tank, taking out a slurried concentrated solution from the bottom of the resin separating tank and recycling the solution to a reactor. Preferably, the resin separating tank is operated under conditions to make the rising rate of the clarified solution <=0.003m/sec. |
