The invention refers to an early simple hybrid of sun-flower (Helianthus annuus L.) called Rapid, which is obtained through the cross-breeding of two own inbred lines according to the formula (Lc 1019 A x Lc 1103). The sun-flower is recommended for cultivation in all areas of the country that are fit for its cultivation, except for the regions heavily infested with broomrape (Orobanche cumana) or white rot. The plants are 158-165 cm high, have 28-30 pairs of leaves, ligulate lemon-yellow flowers, the flower-head is 20-22 cm in size, inclined and compacted, the achenes are ovoid, elongated, and grey-black with no stripes. The mass of 1000 grains is 60-70 g and the hectolitre mass is 35-40 kg. The vegetation period is 115-120 days. The variety is early, has resistance to blight (the European type), and good tolerance to brown spotting of the stalks and white rot (Sclerotinia sclerotitum). The grains contain 49...50 percent oil and give grain productions of 3500-3800 kg per hectare.
