According to the invention, the method for repairing or reinforcing the superstructure of railway bridges and viaducts made of vaults, is applied without having to discontinue the traffic. It consists of stages in which the piers, abutments and bolsters of the vaults are coated. These vaults are reinforced by mounting elements made of corrugated sheet metal of the same shape as the vault, which hold the cast steel concrete, followed by pouring the concrete for the side tympana in forms that are supported by anchors mounted in the existing tympana. The tympana thus reinforced allow metallic baulks to rest on their edges. The baulks are mounted during traffic breaks, in order to support the railway tracks, and enable taking the filling out of the tank, manufacturing the concrete slab with the necessary waterproofing, without discontinuing the traffic, and obtaining a reinforcement of the superstructure which ensures the absorption of loads, high-speed traffic and use of heavy track maintenance equipment.
