Shockproof base/adaptor system for filament- and gas-discharge lamps

The system uses a lamp socket (2) which has a circular cross-section provided with 2 circular section ratchet profiles (5), cooperating with corresponding sprung ratchet elements within the lamp fitting, for maintaining the lamp in its seating provided by the lamp fitting. The ratchet profiles of the lamp socket and the sprung ratchet elements of the lamp fitting are each made of a non-metallic material and are coded for ensuring insertion of the correct lamp.
