<p>A telescoping flash unit (3) for a camera (1) helps substantially reduce 'red-eye' by extending the flash head (13) to a position far enough away from the objective lens (9) such that the angle of incidence from the flash unit (30) to the subject's eyes is too great for the light to be reflected from the subject's eyes directly back into the objective lens (9). The compact nature of the camera (1) is maintained when the flash unit (3) is not being used, by either retracting the flash unit (3) back into the body (5) of the camera (1), or detaching it from the camera (1). The flash unit (3) is easily separable from the camera body (5) or the external bracket (40) should the flash unit (3) need to be repaired or replaced.</p> |
