The headlamp has a bulb, a mirror and a lens. The mirror contains a number of zones of smooth reflecting surfaces which are located beside each other and are bounded by transition lines with discontinuities in slope. Each of these zones can scatter the light horizontally between two extreme values which result in the direct neighbourhood of the transition lines. The extreme value of the horizontal scattering of each zone changes progressively by the measure in which one moves along the transition line concerned. The reflecting surfaces of at least some of the zones lie on a non-parabolic horizontal generatrix.
