The optoelectronic device (1) has a housing (2) containing a light source (3), providing a light beam (4) which is periodically deflected, for scanning a given angular range and fed to the surveillance zone via an exit window (6) in the housing, with evaluation of the reflected light from the surveillance zone. The obscuring of the exit window is detected via a control light source (13), providing a light beam (14) which is rotated for scanning the peripheral edge of the exit window, with evaluation of the reflected light received by a correspondingly rotated photodetector (18).
