Disclosed is a method for identifying cholesterol in the skin tissue, consisting in the preparation of a segment of skin surface, the application of the measured quantity of a mixture containing enzymes to the skin, its exposure, the evaluation of the concentration of cholesterol in a reaction solution, and the calculation of the concentration of cholesterol in the skin. A contact area of skin with the mixture is defined using a bottomless airthight container, the base of which is attached to the skin. The mixture, which is used in a buffer solution with a pH of 6.8, contains (in molecular weight) 2.0 to 2.5 % cholesteroloxydase iodine, 0.04 to 0.06 % sodium deoxycholic acid, and 0.1 to 0.2 % 3-propane sulphonate (dodecyldimethylammonium). The concentration of cholesterol in the reaction solution is then evaluated by measuring the level of hydrogen peroxide; said measurement may be performed by immersing an electrochemical monitor or colorimetric indicator into the reaction solution.
