The optometric device has a data input device for entering the required focal strength correction for the examined eye and setting devies for adjusting the entered correction value. The adjustment of the latter is effected in steps via a stored programme, with a display device (30) indicating the calculated correction value obtained via a further stored programme, using the entered correction value and the effected adjustment in accordance with values provided by a table of adjustment values for different types of sight defect.
