Fumigation of a chamber containing pests or infested materials

Procedure for controlling pests by fumigation comprises adequately sealing off a chamber to be treated which contains pests or pest-infested materials, leading in inert gases, especially carbon dioxide and/or nitrogen, and additionally leading in additional fumigant(s) such that during a predominant part of the treatment period the CO2 concentration is between 35 and virtually 100 vol. % or the residual O2 concentration is below 13 vol. % and the additional fumigant(s) is/are introduced over this period in concentrations which are below the lethal concentration(s) for 100 % mortality without addition of inert gas under the same temperature conditions.
