The invention relates to a hair clipping machine with a device for adjusting the length of a cut, said adjusting device acting upon the clipping assembly. Said clipping assembly comprises at least a fixed zig-zag comb (10) and a clipping blade (20) which can be driven essentially parallel to the front edge of said zig-zag comb whilst oscillating in a crosswise direction. Said adjusting device consists of at least an actuating element (40) which is connected to the clipping blade (7) via coupling elements and enables lengthwise displacement thereof, perpendicularly to the front edge of said clipping blade. Said adjusting device is an integral part of the clipping assembly. It is therefore possible to configure the clipping adjusting device independently of the casing. As a result, construction is simplified and it is also possible to retrofit clipping machines which do not have such adjustment devices.
