The optoelectronic device (1) has a transmission element (3) contained within a housing, providing a beam (4) received by a rotating deflector (5),for periodic scanning over a given angular range. The deflected beam is fed to the surveillance zone through a window (6) in the housing, with a second light transmitter providing a test beam (14) used to detect obscuring of the window, upon evaluation of the light reflected from the latter.
