<p>An input buffer circuit (2) for receiving digital data signals from a transmission line, comprises a monitor section (1) for monitoring data signals at the input of the buffer circuit. A power control section (3) receives a control signal from the monitor section (1) depending on where the data are detected at the input of the input buffer circuit (2). The power control section (3) can switch the input buffer (2) into a low power standby mode, if no data are detected by the monitor section (1), and otherwise into an operating mode.</p> |
