A process for producing a molded plastic container for cosmetic material, by providing a molded polymeric container body having a continuous outer surface; applying a colored pattern constituted of discontinuous pattern elements to the continuous outer surface; thereafter applying to the continuous outer surface, over the colored pattern, a curable translucent coating of a lacquer containing a dye; and curing the applied lacquer coating.
