Rubber compositions containing a pyrazine compound

A method for mixing a rubber composition which contains (i)100 parts of at least one sulphur curable elastomer selected from conjugated diene (co)polymers and copolymers containing at least one conjugated diene and a vinyl aromatic monomer; and (ii)0.05-10 parts of a pyrazine amide of formula I. Preferably the elastomer is selected from natural rubber, neoprene, polyisoprene, butyl rubber, polybutadiene, styrene butadiene copolymer, styrene isoprene butadiene copolymer, methyl methacrylate butadiene copolymer, isoprene styrene copolymer, methyl methacrylate isoprene copolymer, acrylonitrile isoprene copolymer, nitrile rubber and/or ethylene propylene diene copolymer. The composition is thermomechanically mixed between 140 and 190[deg]C for between 1 to 20 minutes. The crosslinking is carried out between 100 and 200 [deg]C in the presence of a sulphur crosslinking agent.
