An insemination catheter (1), specially for sows, is described, comprising a tubular shaft portion (2) with a shaped body portion (3) at its distal end, the body portion having larger diameter dimensions than the shaft. Said shaped body portion (3) consists of a series of disc-like radial laminae or of narrow turns of a helix of one slim basically radial lamina (11,17) attached to the shaft (2) in mutual distance of the lateral faces of its radial neighbor laminae or turns, these faces facing along the axis. The laminae have an envelope surface (13) forming the shape of said body portion, and the ratio of the thicknesses of these laminae or turns to the distances between these parts is within the range of 5 : 1 to 0.5 : 1. By this pack of slice-like laminae, the technology is improved in several respects. The lamination results in a considerable reduction of materials, in a better fixation of the catheter in the cervix, in a better sealing of the cervical canal during the insemination due to the fact that the individual laminae go closer to the rings of the cervical canal and that due to their elasticity, they may be used as well for young and old sows, and also results in a better stimulation of the cervix, thus creating a good stimulus of the uterus muscular system and therefore reaching a better semen transport by the wave-like contractions and sucking action.
