An insect trap including: a container part (11), a cover part (10) which includes a plurality of access passages (13) which are dimensioned and shaped to restrict insects using said access passages (13) to depart from the container part (11); means (26, 33) for supporting one or more vessels (24, 34) for containing a volatile synthetic attractant lure (25) for insects whereby the or each of said vessels (24, 34) are substantially surrounded by air whereby said volatile synthetic attractant lure (25) may diffuse into said container part (11) and to atmosphere through access passages (13).
