The foot (1) bears against the roof (3) via an elastic insert (2), and has a tapped hole (5) into which one end of a mounting stud (4) screws. The other stud end passes through drillings in the roof and a hoop (8) spanned by the latter and accommodates a clamping nut. A height-equalising component (10) fitting over the stud passes through the roof drilling and bears against the hoop, and has a tubular boss (13). The component has mounting feet (11) supported on the hoop and one or more shorter or supporting feet (14), while a clamp on the boss prevents sliding along the stud. On tightening the clamping nut the supporting feet are pulled against the hoop, while the mounting ones can deflect outwards. Thus the difference between the feet heights determines the amount of tightening necessary to pre-load the insert between the railing foot and the roof.
