PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress loss of efficiency of codes used for coding symbols, while the transmission of coded symbols forming part of alphabets having a symbol number, in excess of alphabets used for a transmission means is attained. SOLUTION: In a transmitter that transmits digital data, a selection means selects sets (531, 532) of digital data consecutive to each other. A map means maps the sets of selected digital data to sets (540, 541) of the amplitude, according to a set of prescribed rules. A transmission means sends the signals, whose two components are respectively modulated by the 1st amplitude and the 2nd amplitude of the sets of amplitude by the quadrature phase system. A set of the prescribed rule includes a 1st rule, and when an estimate probability where the 2 sets of amplitude are configured after the transmission is higher than the 1st prescribed value, sets of digital data corresponding to 2 sets of the amplitude have 1st or 2nd digital data items of the same value. |
