PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radioactive gas monitor which can reduce influence of thermal noise of a photoelectronic amplifier and improve radiation counting efficiency. SOLUTION: A scintillation fiber 1 is laid parallel in a gas sampling tank 2 of an U-shaped tube type, in such a manner that the path of gas is not obstructed. Photoelectronic amplifiers 4 are connected with both ends of the scintillation fiber 1. A simultaneous counting circuit 7 is arranged in the postages of the photoelectronic amplifiers 4, via preamplifiers 5 and main amplifiers 6. Thereby effective scintillation light caused by radiation is simultaneously counted, and thermal noise or the like are not simultaneously counted, so that effective components can be extracted. On account of the U-shaped tube type, radiation travelling in the axial direction of a tube can be also easily captured.
