Device for testing the presence or concentration of an analyte in a fluid sample, comprises: (a) a support member; and (b) a composition positioned on or impregnated in a support, comprising a composition for a dry chemistry reagent indicator comprising: (i) 3-methyl-6-(M sulphonate)-benzothiazolinone-(2)-hydrazone, where M is a positively charged ion providing a stable aqueous salt; (ii) a second dye component selected from 3,3-dimethylaminobenzoic acid, 3,5-dichloro-2-hydroxybenzenesulphonic acid, 8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulphonate and N-(3-sulphopropyl)aniline; and (iii) an oxidase enzyme or a peroxidase enzyme. The support member is adapted for receiving a fluid sample which contacts the composition, and is adapted for the support to provide for inspection or reading of the colour change produced by the composition after contact with the fluid sample. Also claimed is a method of testing a fluid for the presence or concentration of an analyte, comprising: (a') applying a fluid sample to a support member having a composition positioned on or impregnated in the support, as above; and (b') reading or measuring the colour indication provided by the composition after contact with the fluid sample. |
