PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a varistor which has a high surge resistance despite its small size and a method for manufacturing the varistor. SOLUTION: A varistor is composed, mainly of a zinc oxide and contains a composite oxide expressed by Zn2 SnO4 . In a method for manufacturing varistors, the zinc oxide and tin oxide are mixed together, and the composite oxide expressed by Zn2 SnO4 is obtained by heat-treating the mixture. Then a raw material for varistor is prepared by heat-treating the main component, namely, the zinc oxide after the composite oxide has been added to the zinc oxide. |
