PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to give permanent life prolonging effect to cut flowers and arranged flowers based on the antibacterial effect of a photocatalyst, by equipping a substantially transparent layer containing photocatalyst particles on the inner surface of a transparent flower vase to make the layer surface to have hydrophilic properties corresponding to photoexcitation of the photocatalyst. SOLUTION: A layer containing a photocatalyst is formed on the inner face of a transparent flower vase. The inner face of the flower vase is formed of inorganic oxides such as silica, alumina, titania, zirconia, ceria, or solid acids such as TiO2 /WO3 , TiO2 /Mo2 O3 , SiO2 , Al2 O3 , etc., or silicon so as to have hydrophilic properties corresponding to photoexcitation of the photocatalyst. Thereby, hydrophilic properties that not higher than 20 deg., preferably not higher than 10 deg., as converted to a contact angle with water corresponding to photoexcitation of the photocatalyst is given to the layer surface. As the photocatalyst, for instance, anatase type titanium oxide, rutile type titanium oxide, tin oxide, etc.,are used and the thickness of the surface layer containing the photocatalyst is not limited but not higher than 0.4μm is preferable.
