PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve drivability by suppressing torsional vibration and also following up the speed of an engine. SOLUTION: A diesel engine 2 is provided with a rotating speed sensor 35 to detect the speed NE of a vehicle engine and an electronic control device(ECU) 71 to control the fuel injection into the engine 2. Also the ECU 71 controls the torque of the engine 2 by compensating (by increasing or decreasing) the fuel injection amount based on a variation DLNE in the rotating speed NE in a first period T1. In addition, the ECU 71 prohibits the torque control when a judgment value SNE as the amount of variation in the rotating speed NE in a second period T2 longer than the first period T1 exceeds a specified valueαfor double clutch operation.
