PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate an arbitrary fluid physical quantity in a calculation zone with a computer by using both a fluid physical quantity at a calculation zone inlet and a value detected with a fluid physical quantity sensor, and then calculating a differentiated fluid dynamics equation in a time series. SOLUTION: An inflow air 9 flows from an inlet 2 of an air cleaner 1 to an engine intake pipe 4 having a diameter D via a filter 3, on the rotation of an engine. Furthermore, the inflow air 10 is drawn into the engine as the intake air 10 via a throttle 8. In this case, a connecting pipe 19 is provided at a distance (l) from the inlet of the engine intake pipe 4, and a pressure sensor 20 momentarily measures pressure at everyΔt time. In addition, signals from the pressure sensor 20 are transmitted to an on-vehicle computer 12 via a lead wire 11. Also, the governing equation of the fluid dynamics applied to a pipeline between the inlet of the engine intake pipe 4 and a pressure measurement part is numerically solved every moment, thereby detecting a momentary mass flowrate passing the pressure measurement part. In other words, the signals from the pressure sensor 20 are continuously calculated with the on-line computer 12, and converted to a mass flowrate.
