PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overrunning clutch device equipped with means by which all rollers are engaged with a driving member and a driven member at the approximately same time. SOLUTION: This overrunning clutch is equipped with a driving member and a driven member which have cylindrical surfaces arranged concentrically and can be relatively rotated around a common shaft line. A plurality of recessed parts 28 is formed in the cylindrical surface of the driving member. Respective recessed parts 28 have slant surfaces extended toward the cylindrical surface. Rollers 30 are fitted in the recessed parts 28 and retained by a retainer 32. The retainer 32 is so attached that it can be relatively rotated against the driving and driven members around an axial line. The rollers 30 are retained in a manner that they can not be moved relatively in a circumferential direction by the retainer 32. Therefore, the rollers 30 are simultaneously moved in one direction by the retainer 32. Also, the rollers 30 are pushed to the insides of the recessed parts 28 by corresponding pushing/pressing members 34. When the driving member is accelerated against the driven member, the rollers 30 are moved along the slant surfaces and bitten between the driving member and the driven member. |
