PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a preparation for skin which allows skin to keep the balance of inflow and outflow of humidity and heat by forming a semipermeable film on skin and can protect skin from harmful substances by formulating a lipophilic component with a hydrophilic component. SOLUTION: This preparation contains two components of a lipophilic component (a fatty acid bearing 14-20 carbon atoms and dimethylpolysiloxane) and a hydrophilic component (triethanolamine, monopropylene glycol, glycerol, sorbitol, a polyethylene glycol and a polyvinylpyrrolidone) existing as two phase systems. When a fatty acid and triethanolamine are utilized as the lipophilic component and the hydrophilic component, respectively, the mole ratio between fatty acid and triethanolamine is preferable to be greater than 2:1. The preparation can form an osmotic, namely semipermeable, film on skin.
