<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a color filter that improves transmittance, namely increases brightness and that although low consumption of electric power is realized, the filter enables reproducing of sharp tone without decreasing chroma. SOLUTION: This color image forming material for a color filter contains a resin, a red dyestuff and at least one dyestuff except for red. In this material, the red dyestuff contains only a red dyestuff as the dyestuff and shows such properties that when the dye is formed into a colored transmission film having 10% transmittance at 560nm wavelength, the film shows >=40% transmittance at 580nm wavelength and >=80% transmittance at 580nm wavelength. The dyestuff may be a dye or pigment as far as it shows a ratio of the transmittance at 560nm to at 600nm as large as possible and shows a sharp rise as possible in the transmittance curve between these wavelengths. When the dyestuff above described is used to prepare the image forming material and to form red pixels, the transmittance curve of the pixels is also sharp, which means the brightness is improved while the chroma is not decreased.</p> |
